In a few hours, the beautiful “red” Romanian boat Setsail will take the long way to Valletta, where in 14 days, the 40th edition of the Rolex Middle sea race will start. The yacht will stop for a short time in Athens, then head directly to Malta, its skipper – Valentin Oeru told to Yachting info. The crew that will compete in the regatta consists of 10 people, 6 people from last year’s edition and 4 new ones. After the end of the regatta on October 27, Setsail will once again take the road home – Limanu , Mangalia …..
Our media contacted the skipper of the other Romanian boat – Quebramar, Iulia Fulicea, from whom we learned that the boat would sail on Monday, early in the morning from Limanu led by Victor Fulicea, Cristi Ghelner – Simina skipper, Anca Sova, Bogdan Ghiga, all part from the numerous crew consisting of 11 people – 4 women and 7 men. An interesting fact is the predominant mix of different professions on the boat – 3 architects, 1 lawyer, 1 editor, 1 dentist and IT girls and boys. Due to the late arrival of most of the crew on October 16, the boat will not participate in the Coastal race, which is scheduled for October 16 in the early hours of the day. We would like to bring to your attention what Iulia Fulicea, the skipper of the yacht Quebramar, told us:
” It is the first participation for some of us but not for all: Victor and Cristi Ghelner sailed 2 years ago on Eros, Dana Volosevici, Cosmin Apreotesei (Preach) and Bogdan Hrehorciuc sailed last year on Set Sail. For the rest, it’s the first time. Some of us used to compete on dinghy boats as kids like Optimist, Laser and 470. Cezara Dragomir, Anca Sova, Andrei Teodorescu, Bogdan Babici and myself. We have limited offshore experience as a team but we are looking forward to have the time of our lives. As an objective, We are planning to be safe and to give our best! ”
Setsail will launch in ORC Class 3, IRC Class 4. Quebramar is in ORC Class4.
