Jérémie Beyou will restart today ….

Jérémie Beyou, the 44-year-old French skipper who had to sail 600 miles back to Les Sables d’Olonne after a Charal injury on the second night, confirmed that it would be repeated – start the race on today afternoon, although the leaders are about 2,500 nautical miles south, approaching Doldrums.

Beyou, who was the outstanding favorite for the win of the race, hit a floating object on the third night. The impact damaged one of Charal’s handlebars, its mounting and control mechanisms, as well as various composite damage to the IMOCA deck. An around-the-clock team effort of 20 people since the bitterly disappointed Beyou moored his boat back at Les Sables d’Olonne on Sunday afternoon returned the boat to 100% of its full potential, according to the competitor who finished third in the last Vendée Globe.
